Important Information
The month you plan to start inseminating:
Call the office and let us know that you are initiating an insemination that month.
If necessary, contact your sperm bank and arrange for your specimen(s) to be shipped to our office. They can ship prewashed sperm for IUI, or unwashed sperm that can be used for ICI.
Please record the first day of your menstrual period, the length of your period, the day your ovulation predictor kit turns positive, and the day your next period begins if you do not conceive.
Purchase ovulation predictor kits. Start testing according to kit directions for the shortest possible cycle length. You may need more than one kit per month.
The day your ovulation predictor kit turns positive:
Weekdays: please call the office (781-646-1043) between 8:30am and 9:00 am Monday through Friday, to schedule your insemination.
Weekends/holidays: please call the office between 8:30am and 9:00am and have the midwife on call paged. She will call you back and schedule an insemination with you.
Please remember that, on weekends, the midwife is also attending women in labor and birth, and she will have to schedule inseminations when it is convenient for her that day. Rarely, she may have to cancel an insemination because she is too busy.
On the day of insemination:
If you are ill on the scheduled day of insemination, please call the office or if on a weekend, page the midwife on call and confirm that you can still inseminate this cycle.
Please remember to bring payment at the time of service.
Fees:
- AI consult or Intake (required visit on all patients before
starting): $164
- ICI or IUI: $190
After insemination:
Please let us know when you have a positive pregnancy test or when your period comes. This helps us keep accurate statistics and counsel you for the next cycle.
When you become pregnant, we recommend you seek prenatal care with a certified nurse midwife or a physician within the first eight weeks of your pregnancy.
Watch for danger signs of early pregnancy:
- Unexplained bleeding or cramping
- Severe nausea and vomiting
- Pain in lower abdomen, especially if only on one side
Please note that while we try to help everyone, we reserve the right to not proceed with insemination at the provider's discretion.
